CONG (叢 IN TRADITIONAL CHINESE AND 丛 IN SIMPLIFIED CHINESE) IS A RARE CHINESE FAMILY NAME OF XIONGNU ORIGIN. ITS CHINESE CHARACTER FIRST TOOK THE FORM OF JIN (GOLD 金) DURING EMPEROR WU OF HAN'S REIGN (157 BC – 87 BC) AND LATER CHANGED TO CONG TOWARDS THE END OF THE HAN DYNASTY (206 BC-220 AD).
